The team

The Continental Margins Group (GMC) brings together researchers from five national and international scientific institutions: the Institute of Marine Sciences Barcelona-CSIC, Andalusian Institute of Earth Sciences-CSIC, Geological Survey of Spain, the Spanish Institute of Oceanography, the University of Salamanca and the Pierre et Marie Curie University, Paris.

The GMC has a great deal of experience in the field of the geology and geophysics in continental margins and basins from different geological and geographical contexts.

The background of the GMC researchers includes a variety of Marine Geoscience disciplines such as geomorphology, stratigraphy, sedimentology, geotechnics, tectonics, data handling and processing, databases and geological collections, resulting in a multidisciplinary group. The group is divided into four main areas (see organigram).

The GMC was recognised as a group of Excellence by the Directorate General for Research of the Catalan Government (AGAUR) in October 2005 (SGR00707) and for the period 2009-2013 (SGR1071).
